Triple-deckers:
Using two white and one brown bread slice (or two brown and one white) fill, (in separate layers), with the following tasty and complimentary combinations: • Ham, spread with a fruity chutney/soft cheese, (cream cheese, or fresh goats cheese), mixed with chopped walnuts; • Corned beef/sliced dill pickle; • Smoked mackerel with horseradish sauce, (mixed with cream)/sliced tomatoes; • Cooked beef moistened with an herby vinaigrette/roasted red pepper, sliced into strips; • Cooked salmon, (moistened with mayonnaise)/sliced cucumber and strawberries. Low fat specials:
• Tuna mixed with diced, skinned tomatoes, or peeled and diced cucumber and chopped chives or parsley; • Tomato and rasher toastie — toast bread, rub with a cut clove of garlic. Then rub a halved tomato into toast, add crisp, grilled rashers of bacon and eat while crisp; • Cooked pork, trimmed of visible fat, moistened with applesauce and topped with mixed salad leaves. Hotdog rolls:
• Spread the roll with a little tomato chutney, or Branston pickle, or Piccalilli. Split a large sausage down the middle and stuff with a finger of cheese. Wrap tightly; • Cut a mini-omelette into strips, spread with a little tapenade, and top with crisp, shredded, (cos or iceberg), lettuce. Wrap tightly. |
