Joseph Brennan Bakeries Policy on Waste Management

Plan to comply with the requirements of the Waste Management (Packaging) Regulations 2003

1. Continue to provide a reception, storage and compacting facility on our premises to deal with packing waste as required by the Regulations.

2. Continue to display at our main entrance, notices complying with parts 1 and 3 of the First Schedule.

3. Segregate, compact and store all our own internal packaging waste as required by the Regulations.

4. Collect packaging waste from any producer we have supplied with packaging in accordance with the regulations.

5. Advise approved Recovery Operators of the FOC availability of this compacted product.

6. If uncollected after a period of 4 weeks, arrange for its collection by an approved Recovery Operator.

7. Keep records of all of the above and provide South Dublin County Council with copies.

8. Submit quarterly reports to South Dublin County Council as required by part 3 of the Second Schedule.

9. At time of Renewal of Registration, submit to South Dublin County Council, a report outlining the steps taken to comply with the regulations and the results of those steps.

10. Prepare a new plan every 3 years and submit it to South Dublin County Council.

Part 1 of the First Schedule

We are required to accept on these premises, free of charge for the purpose of recovery, packaging waste arising from products, packaging or packaging material of a type or brand sold or otherwise supplied on these premises. The products or packaging in question need not necessarily have been purchased from Joseph Brennan Bakeries.

Part 3 of the First Schedule

A plan specifying the steps to be taken by Joseph Brennan Bakeries for the purpose of recovering packaging waste is available at these premises or, if so requested will be sent by post, fax or electronic mail.
